Improve Communication & Collaboration
Inadequate or lack of timely communication are the lead money and time wasters in the corporate world. A scan of county news headlines over the past few years show that public communication suffers the same challenges. My years of experience in the business and corporate world have taught me that while tough decisions always need to be made, we should make those decisions through listening, understanding and civility. I will apply those same skills in communicating as a commissioner.
Our county has done an admirable job over the past several years in utilizing modern technology of web postings and televised commission meetings to help keep the public informed. We must continue to push forward as new methods become available. By the same token, good old-fashioned face-to-face meetings still work today as well. As a commissioner, I will advocate for:
- Improving communication and collaboration between the commission and other local governments and entities such as Hendersonville City Council, Henderson County School Board and NCDOT (NC Department of Transportation)
- Improving communication between the commission and the public
- Update and improve the county's website, and explore other electronic tools to provide up-to-date and easy-to-access information and updates
